As you may know there are two variations of online casino roulette offered by the largest gambling sites nowadays. There are European and AmericanRoulette . What’s the difference? European roulette has 37 sectors including black/red sectors from 0 to 36 and one green zero section (0). As for American Roulette, it has 38 sectors including black/red sectors from 0 to 36 and two zero sectors( 0 and 00). Therefore, you can guess that European online casino roulette offers better odds and much more winning chances than its American counterpart. In this article we are going to describe you all existing betting options of European roulette and their odds.
There is no doubt that European roulette is a game of luck. An element of luck here is probably one of the strongest among all other online casino games. However, you should’t think that this game cannot be profitable as practically all bets offer even odds ( except for the zero section that gives a gambling site a long term advantage over players). So, playing European roulette on gambling sites, you can place the following bets:
1. Colour bet. Wagering on this you are betting on either black or red sectors. As we have already specified, European roulette has 18 red and 18 black sectors on the wheel. If there were no zero sector, your odds to win in this bet would be 50%. The payout for this bet is 1 to 1.
2. Even/Odd numbers. As you can guess there are 18 odd and 18 even numbers on the roulette’s wheel. Without a zero sector, your winning odds would be 50% as well.
3. Half Bets. You can choose to place a bet on the first half of roulette numbers from 1 to 18 and you can place a bet on the second half of theroulette numbers from 19 to 36. If there was no green sector, your odds would be 50% as well. By the way, on some roulette tables these bets are called low and high bets.Payout for this bet is 1 to 1 as well
4. Dozens bet. You can choose to bet on the first dozen of roulette numbers from 1 to 12, on the middle dozen of roulette numbers from 13 to 25 or on the last dozen of roulette numbers from 25 to 36. The odds of dozens bet pays 2 to 1.
5. Columns bet. As you can see, numbers in the betting area of the interface of roulette numbers are divided into 3 columns. There are 12 numbers in each column, therefore betting on a certain column you are betting on 12 numbers as well. Odds of this bet are 2 to 1 as well.
6. Bet on 2 dozens. Placing this bet you are betting on two dozens out of 3, for example, numbers from 1 to 24 or numbers from 13 to 36. This bet pays out 1 to 2.
7. Bet on 2 Columns. You can place a bet on 2 columns out of 3 columns of numbers in the betting area. For example, you can choose 2 left or 2 right columns to bet on. This bet pays 1 to 2.
8. Bet on 6 numbers. In this case you are offered to bet on 6 numbers at the same time. Bet on 6 numbers pays 5 to 1.
9. Bet on 4 numbers. In this case you are offered to bet on 4 numbers at the same time. Bet on 6 numbers pays 8 to 1.
10. Bet on 3 numbers. In this case you are offered to bet on 3 numbers at the same time. Bet on 6 numbers pays 11 to 1.
11. Bet on 2 numbers. In this case you are offered to bet on 2 numbers at the same time. Bet on 6 numbers pays 17 to 1.
12. Bet one a single number. Probably the most profitable but at the same time the most risky bet on the European Roulette. The odds for this bet are 35 to 1.
These are the basic odds for the traditional variation of the European Roulette. However, some online casinos introduce different rules for cases when a ball falls on the zero sector. For example, there is an ‘in prison rule’ that is used in some Roulette games offered online. It means that if a ball falls on the green sector such bets as colour, odd/even and high/low bets are not collected by a virtual croupier. Next spin players have an opportunity to get their original bet back if they place a winning bet. If during the next spin a ball comes to a rest on a green sector as well, then the bets stay on the table again and so on. Such feature is really profitable for players, because it decreases the house edge significantly ( to 1.35% only!). And another special zero rule is called ‘le partage’. When a ball lands on a green sector, the same types of bets mentioned above stay on the table as well, but a player is returned a half of his original bet. This rule is quite great for players as it decreases the house edge as well.
